Thames Clippers are the most modern fleet on the Thames, but they are proud of the history on and around the river. Cutty Sark brings to life Britain’s maritime past, and now Thames Clippers and Cutty Sark have teamed up with an exclusive joint ticket making it a perfect day out for travelling on the river and learning more about its past. Following an ambitious six-year conservation project Cutty Sark reopened in April 2012. The ship has been raised over three metres allowing visitors the unique and jaw-dropping experience of walking underneath a nineteenth century sailing ship, the last surviving tea clipper and the fastest and greatest of her time. A completely new and immersive experience allows visitors to venture both underneath and aboard this iconic sailing ship. Innovative exhibits and interactive displays evoke the sights, smells and sounds of life at sea and tell the ship’s fascinating 144-year history, bringing to life the romance, danger and adventure of life under sail. Cutty Sark’s original wooden planks and iron frames that crossed the China Seas have been meticulously conserved giving visitors the opportunity to touch a piece of history. Come on board and put yourself in the shoes of the crew who sailed this world-famous ship around the world over a century ago. Cutty Sark is part of Royal Museums Greenwich, a group of world-class museums also incorporating the National Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory and the 17th Century Queen’s House, situated within two hundred acres of Royal Greenwich Park land, at the heart of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site. Thames Clippers, the fastest fleet on the river, run a 20-minute frequency offering commuters and sightseers with a unique way to travel around the capital. Passengers can enjoy a comfortable, spacious seat; all offer great views with an outdoor deck at the back of the boats and Costa Coffee bars on board. Thames Clippers serve Greenwich Pier throughout the day with boats arriving and leaving every 20 minutes from first thing in the morning until late into the evening. The pier is next to Cutty Sark at the heart of maritime Greenwich.
